A NipTip only works if it stays on. Here is how to get a full night out of a pair, in the right order.
Before you apply
- Skin must be clean and completely dry.
- No lotion, no body oil, no shimmer, no sunscreen on the area.
- If you moisturise, do it hours earlier, not the same evening.
- Wipe the area with an alcohol pad or micellar water and let it dry fully.
Oil is the only thing that beats the adhesive. Everything else is fine.
Applying them
- Peel the backing off one pastie.
- Position it before it touches down — once it is on, repositioning weakens the adhesive.
- Press firmly from the centre outwards for about ten seconds.
- Do the second one, then leave them alone for five minutes before getting dressed.
Body heat is what sets the adhesive, so those five minutes matter more than people expect.
Where the phone has to touch
Most phones have their NFC reader near the top of the back of the handset. Tell people to hold the top of their phone flat against the pastie rather than waving the middle of the phone at it. That single instruction fixes almost every failed tap.
Getting them off
- Warm the area first — a warm shower is ideal.
- Peel slowly from the outside edge toward the centre.
- Never rip. It hurts and it damages the adhesive for a re-wear.
Making a pair last
- Store them back on the original backing sheet, flat.
- Keep them out of direct sun and away from heat.
- Never put them in a washing machine or use soap on the adhesive.
- If the edge lifts, a tiny amount of body-safe adhesive brings it back.
The chip itself lasts indefinitely and needs no charging — the adhesive is the part with a lifespan, and how long it lasts depends on how hard you wear them.
What if mine will not tap?
Check three things in this order: where the phone is being held, whether their NFC is switched on in settings, and whether their phone is very old. If all three are fine and it still will not read, message us — if the chip is faulty we replace the pair.
